A villa that is considered to be one of Cannes’ finest 19th-century mansions. A grab-bag assortment of Classical, Palladian, Renaissance and Baroque features, it was built in 1881 on the foundations of Villa Marie-Thérèse. Which had belonged to Lord Brougham, the founder of modern Cannes. The house and its large park, filled with specimen plants and trees, are both listed national monuments. Since the late 1940s, the house has served as a municipal library and “mediatheque.”
